To establish an education and research platform for innovative atomic science for safety and security

The platform developed by RECAS will essentially contribute to realize the "Ibadai" vision below:
Ibadai Vision 2030 ~Research~
Contribute to building a sustainable society by strengthening research capabilities and establishing a virtuous cycle of knowledge
Goals to realize the vision
Build a "nuclear science co-creation base" that can maximize the educational and research potential of the Tokai region
Three initiatives to achieve the goal
Consolidating distributed nuclear science education and research resources
The field of atomic science, which had been distributed among departments such as the Frontier Applied Atomic Science Research Center (iFRC), the Faculty of Science, and the Faculty of Engineering, was reorganized into the Atomic Science Research and Education Center.
Effective use of regional potential for research and education
Established the Social/Regional Issues Collaborative Solution Office, which is responsible for organizing cross-organizational research projects. We will create a place where researchers from nearby research facilities, companies, and universities can gather freely and actively, and where co-creation that spans organizations can be spontaneously and proactively formed.
Advancing atomic science-related technology and passing it on to future generations
Through research projects in collaboration with nearby research institutions related to atomic science (on-site research and education), we aim to improve the level of research in atomic science.

Realizes a "nuclear science co-creation base'', which will lead to maximizing the potential of the region.
Leads the formation and project management of co-creative research projects and promotes close collaboration with research facilities in the Tokai region.
Improves the research level of atomic science, further advances education in areas where technology inheritance is required (next generation innovative reactors, etc.), through joint projects in collaboration with research institutes such as JAEA and private companies.
Trajectory of the “Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Research Field” and “Atomic Science Research Field” at Ibaraki University

Atomic science promoted by Ibaraki University
1st Phase | "Atomic science" as materials research using neutron beams specialized for industrial use at J-PARC promoted at the Frontier Applied Atomic Science Research Center |
2nd Phase | Atomic science has expanded in various departments within the university, including the Department of Engineering (Nuclear Systems Education Program), Department of Science (Quantum Beam Science Program), and Department of Quantum Beam Science. |
3rd Phase | A new "atomic science" that integrates research and education that has evolved in the Tokai region of Ibaraki Prefecture and aims to solve social issues such as energy issues. |
