Greeting
Ibaraki University will open RECAS (Research and Education Center for Atomic Sciences), based at Tokai Satellite Campus, on April 1, 2024. It is an advanced research base aiming at atomic science, which integrates the science of atoms, materials, and life, and future energy technology represented by carbon neutrality by 2050. Our pillars are technology development related to next-generation innovative reactors as energy sources, improvement of safety technology related to the effects of radiation on life, and material science through the advanced use of quantum beams such as neutrons and synchrotron radiation. Furthermore, it also has the function of drawing out synergies from the integration of research topics and facility groups across these departments, and supervising the direction of research and education and contributions to the region. Taking advantage of our geographical advantage in Ibaraki Prefecture and Tokai Village, where JAEA, KEK, J-PARC, the University of Tokyo, etc. with which Ibaraki University has a partnership agreement, we will work to contribute to society by drawing out the potential of atoms. We aim to contribute to society through atomic science by drawing out synergies from the integration of these research topics and facilities.
